Presentation
Hello! My name is Gabriel Schimidel Ramos de Oliveira, and I am currently a PhD student in the Graduate Program in Ocean and Earth Dynamics at the Federal Fluminense University (PPG-DOT/UFF), where I work as an INCT-ReNOMO fellow 🎓.
My academic path began in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering at UFF, where I developed a strong interest in Data Science applied to the environment, particularly in climatology, hydrology, oceanography, and numerical modeling. Since then, I have been seeking to understand how statistical methods, machine learning, and Artificial Intelligence can contribute to the investigation of environmental processes 🤖🌱.
My research experience includes developing models aimed at forecasting extreme wave events through machine learning 🌊💻. In my PhD, I continue to deepen this interface between data, modeling, and ocean processes, now within the scope of INCT-ReNOMO’s activities.
In my free time, surfing and the ocean remain some of my greatest passions, whether following or practicing it 🏄. I also enjoy spending time with my dog, Caramelo 🐾, and with my family, as well as watching TV series and anime, playing video games, and studying topics that interest me 📚.
You can find some of my projects on GitHub 💻
Feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn 🤝
